MATUPIT VILLAGE HISTORY
In East New Britain there are four (4) different types of districts and they are called:
Rabaul District
Gazelle District
Kokopo District
Pomio District
CULTURE
There are numerous cultural activities of which are mainly used occasionally and that is TUMBUAN CULTURE SHOW. This Tumbuan Society are very unique to by people because it does gather together every relatives in large gathering during SHELL MONEY BREAKING, NEW INITIATION ADOPTION INTO TUMBUAN SECRET SOCIETY, TUMBUAN DANCING IN STYLE, TUMBUAN SWEEPING AT CEMETERY.
LAND
Village land is built on the Island from its beginning around 1800-1959. During 1971 the village people started to connect the village to become what it is today. They mounted big stones as layers and then the road began to connected providing vehicles to transport people into town today.
LANGUAGE
The people in the village speaks one common language called KUANUA similar to other neighboring villages.
RELIGION
There are three main religions on this Island.
